My Jesus Was A Revolutionary

Overcome this world with love.

John 13:34-35

pwnzunublol:

”A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

People so often forget this.

I agree with some points in this. We should love everyone no matter what their stance on religion or war or politics or homosexuals etc. We shouldn’t get mad or aggressive or not hang out with anyone because they are an atheist. In fact, who did Jesus hang out with the most? People who didn’t believe and people of questionable moral background. Not the religious leaders. In fact, who did Jesus get angry at the most? The pharisees. People who were supposed to be sharing the Lord, but instead used it for their own personal gain and to point fingers and place blame at everyone but themselves.

I want to pull a Donald Miller. If you have been victimized by a “Christian” because of any reason, I sincerely apologize. That is not what we are supposed to be doing. We have no right or reason to do such a thing, because we are not God. We are sinners. All of us, Christian or not.

BUT.

I am not in a relationship with myself. I hate myself, and yet am completely and totally in love with the Lord. God knows me so well because He knows everything. He knows my heart. His opinions are my opinions (or they should be) because I want to align myself with His will for my life and my heart with His heart. He is real because He’s real. Not because He is me, though I pray that others can see Him through me.

And, I beg to differ about belief being a choice. God gave each of us free will so that we may come to Him, but only if we wanted to. I tried it my way, and it sucked. It sucked so bad that I thought about taking my own life. But, He convinced me otherwise. He showed me that I didn’t have to live with all this disdain, anger, and hatred. No one gave me arguments that convinced me, because ultimately, it was up to me. No one could or should try to make a choice for you, especially this one. They can help you along the way and give you that option, but it’s your choice to take it or leave it. You are compelled to believe what you perceive to be true, but if you don’t like it, you can change it. I was born into a Christian family. After high school, I started questioning my faith to the point of almost saying I don’t believe in God. The night that I was sure that there was no God, He proved His existence to me. He doesn’t need us; He could slaughter us if He wanted to. But He doesn’t want to. We are His creations, His children, and He loves us.

You’re right in saying desirability is not a requisite for the truth. Just because I desire to think my brother is not a murderer, doesn’t mean that he’s not. Also, if you doubt God’s existence, of course the option hasn’t been presented to you because you push it away. You may not want to believe. If that’s the case, you’ve already made your choice. God is omniscient and He does know how to answer your doubts, but only if you want Him to. Only if you look for the signs, because they will be subtle and if you aren’t looking, you’ll miss them. He knows how I think because He knows everything and He can look into my heart and know everything I’ve done. He made me just as I am, and He knows exactly where I’ll go and what I’ll do from now until the day I die.
